Hair Mask Review and Comparison.

So I made my first hair mask order about a month ago in about a year! I normally just use coconut oil but I felt like trying something new.
So I did what I always do when I want to try something new and started stalking Instagram to find a few Australian brands to try out and picked Hello Hair, Nkd Body and Hair and Me.

I'm going to give you a little bit of information about each product and then get into what I do/didn't like about them.

The Products.

First up I ordered Hello Hair because my housemate is obsessed with it. They have two options, the normal hydrating mask and the hydrating mask island escape edition. I opted for the island escape just because my housemate has the original. The original costs $15 and island escape is $18 and both are 100g and you should get four uses out of each packet. Island escape contains pomegranate seed oil, grape seed oil, argan oil, olive oil, olive leave extract and castor oil. The original contains a lot less oils but also has sweet almond oil so is not nut allergy friendly, unlike island escape. Island escape smells like lime, grapefruit, vanilla and coconut.

As Hello Hair is all oils you will need to stick it in the fridge for about half an hour in summer to make it more into a cream and easier to work with. In winter it will harder and you just need to massage the packet between your hands to warm it up. Hello Hair is supposed to help with dandruff and dry skin conditions as well as soften you hair and promote hair growth. Hello Hair suggests you do one treatment a week, two if your hair is really damaged. You apply Hello Hair to dry hair, leave in for half an hour and then wash out with shampoo and conditioner. Hello Hair has free shipping Australia wide, $3.50 and item to New Zealand and $5 an item to the rest of the world. Shipping takes 2 - 10 days to get to you if you live in Australia and between 4 - 20 for the rest of the world. Hello Hair is to be stored in a cool dark place.

Next is Nkd Body and I've been wanting to try it out ever since Brittney Saunders launched the site and I finally did! Nkd Body does a citrus mask and costs $16.95 for 100g. It contains argan oil, pawpaw leave extract, green tea extract, orange peel oil and lime oil and as the name states, smells like citrus. You should get four masks out of each packet as well and last three months. Nkd Body suggests using once a week, twice with damaged hair and is to be applied to freshly washed or just damp hair. You leave in for 5 - 10 minutes and then just rinse off with warm water. Nkd Body does free Australian shipping and turns up in 5 days, while New Zealand has a $3 shipping fee per item and rest of the world has a $5 fee. International shipping will take about 2 weeks.

Last but not least is Hair and Me which I bought after it being suggested by another beauty blogger on Instagram. Their rejuvenation treatment is $19.95 for 90ml and contains extra virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil, macadamia oil and sweet almond oil and has a strong macadamia smell to it. Hair and Me is not suitable for people with nut allergies. You'll get roughly four treatments out of a packet from Hair and Me as well. Hair and Me is also an oil product so  you will need to stick it in the fridge for about half an hour in summer to make it more into a cream and easier to work with. In winter it will harder and you just need to massage the packet between your hands to warm it up. You apply Hair and Me to damp hair and wash out with shampoo and conditioner after 30- 45 minutes. Hair and Me is also to be stored in a cool dark place and will last three months. As with the other masks it is recommended to be used once a week, two if your hair is really damaged. Hair and Me is supposed to help with dandruff and dry scalp conditions as well. Hair and Me does free shipping in Australia. They also do have international shipping but it is weight based and depends on where you live.

All three products are cruelty free, can be used on extensions and will last you for 3 months.

Testing Out The Products.

Each product came with their own set of instructions so for the purpose of the blog post I followed those instructions.

Hello Hair.
Hello Hair is designed to be used on dry hair and to be left on for half an hour and then washed out with shampoo and conditioner. I found this mask to be the most practical to use, just because I didn't have to get in the shower to dampen my hair first. Once the half hour was up I jumped in the shower and washed my hair twice with shampoo to get all of the mask out and then conditioned it. Once dry Hello Hair left my hair super soft and smooth.

Nkd Body.
Nkd Body was probably my most favourite  to test out because of its citrus fragrance and from seeing all the rave reviews by some of my favourite Instagram ladies. Nkd body is to be applied to damp or just shampood hair so i chucked on a face mask, jumped in the shower, did a quick shampoo, twisted my hair to get rid of the excess water and then applied the mask. Nkd Body said to leave the mask in for  10 - 15 minutes so I chose to do the full 15. Once the 15 minutes was up I rinsed it out with warm water. Once my hair was dry it was once again nice and smooth and left my hair with a faint citrus smell.

Hair and Me.
Hair and Me is probably the most time consuming mask as it is recommended to leave in for 45 minutes and it also has to be applied to damp hair. So I hopped on the shower, wet my hair, wrung it out and applied the mask. 45 minutes later I washed it out with shampoo and conditioned. Hair and Me left my hair the softest once it was dry.

Overall all 3 masks are nice to use and help your hair and I recommend them all. However I will only be continuing to purchase Hello Hair and Nkd Body as I have psoriasis on my scalp and the Hair and Me mask irritated it. I did try it out a couple of times just to make sure that it was in fact the mask. Also, I did make sure to use the same shampoo and conditioner with each mask and I let my hair air dry as I've recently had part of my hair dyed blonde and I'm using very little heating products.

Have you used any of these products before?

Top 14 of 2014

2014 was the year of brows, perfecting that 90's lip and recreating Kim K's contour.
And while I admit to following a couple of those trends, these are the products that topped my 2014. (Yes I am aware of how late this post  it, The last month has been rediculously busy for me)

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer.
I have fairly oily skin and this product is a livesaver, especially in summer for preventing my face looking super oily. May have another two backup stored away already. :P

Benefit Porefessional.
I do tend to layer my primers, especailly over my nose and cheeks as I do have fairly noticeable pores in these areas. While Benefits The Porefessional can be a little pricey I think it's totally worth it, plus I always order it off the American website rather than paying the prices here and the shipping is pretty reasonable.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.

I spent a lot of 2014 wearing this foundation. It's a super lightwear, light coverage foundation that I love for day to day wear

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser.
I only started using this concealer in the second half of the year after everyone started raving about it and I completely understand why everyone loves it. It's not too thick or thin, it's just a nice consistency and applies really smoothly to the skin.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.
The Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder is most definitely my favourite. It helps prevent my face from getting oily and lasts for ages. The only downside about it is the packaging.

Sleek Rose Gold Blush.
When I made my Sleek order earlier in the year I had to grab Rose Gold as it's supposed to be a dupe for the much raved about Nars blush in Orgasm. I love this blush. It gives a nice subtle glow that looks really pretty on the cheeks.

Chi Chi Bronzes Palette.
You guys know how much I love this palette. I raved about it so much when I first got it and I have continued to reach for it regularly.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.
I feel adding this palette is cheating as I only got it a couple of days after Christmas. Whoops. But I am obsessed with it. I've been using it practically everyday since I bought it and it's just amazing. The pigmentation, the lasting power, the shade range, all just perfect for day to day wear.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Liners.
These liners are my life. They're water proof, there's a fantasic range of shades as you can see, and they last all day. Completely perfect in my eyes.

Rimmel Wonder'Full Argon Oil Mascara.
I was so hesitant to buy this mascara as I have had terrible luck with Rimmel mascaras. But the pretty packaging told me I had to buy it so the second it went on sale I did.
And I'm glad I did! I wear glasses so I've been looking for a mascara that lengthens my lashes slightly, while separating them and curls and this mascara does all that!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.
Oh ABH dipbrow pomade. How perfect you make my brows look.
I cannot praise this product enough! You can do a subtle natural brow, you can do a super bold brow, this product just makes it possible to do anything you want with your brows. I do suggest using a pretty thin eyebrow brush and practicing before you wear it out. You only need the tiniest amount and it blends like a dream.

Nivea Hydrocare Lipbalm.
I went through a phase where my lips were always cracked and dry (too many matte lip days in a row, whoops) and the only thing that fixed them was the Nivea Hydro Care lipbalm. I have since tried the Nivea repair balm and it does nothing for my lips. So Hydro Care is my number one lip love. I have about four of them floating around the house. :p

Rimmel Kate Moss Spring collection #19
My perfect nude. I've had it for awhile now but with the 90's lip trend this lipstick got a lot of wear last year. I even made two of my friends buy it. :P

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Bette.
If you've read my latest Mecca haul post then you already know my love for this lipstick (linked here if you haven't). Super pigmented, glides on super smoothly and I don't find that it clings to any dry skin on my lips. Just such a pretty colour and the collection a whole is perfection. I have a list of about 12 that I want to get!

Sleek blush in Rose Gold,
Rimmel Kate Moss 19,
Nars Audacious lipstick in Bette

Priceline 40% off Skin Care Sale.

Oh Priceline, how I love your sales.

Priceline had their 40% off skin care sale over Wednesday and Thursday as I'm sure most of you know so of course I had to run in an grab a few things.
I actually think I did pretty well this sale, I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and only grabbed one thing I wasn't planning on buying.

So onto what I bought.
I mainly grabbed back ups of products I use daily.

Models Prefer MATTE me pore minimising moisturiser
50ml for $24.99

First up is the Models Prefer MATTE me pore minimising moisturiser.
@beautywithclaire mentioned this in a blog post not long ago raving about it and I had to try it. It helps keep your face matte (something us girls with oily and combination skin struggle with most of summer!) and I have noticed that my pores do seem a little smaller. Normally $25 and was on sale for $15. It may seem a little pricey but this is the second jar I've picked up in a month on sale, and I use it most mornings and have barely made a dent in it!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
400ml for $11.99

Oh Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. What would I do without you!
I still have about half of my first bottle left but I use this daily, there's no chance if it going to waste. Originally $12, down to $7.20

Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips
6 strips for $6.99

Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. I have been wanting to try these forever so with them being on sale for $4.20 instead of $7 I grabbed a box of these as well.

Simple Kind To Skin cleansing facial wipes
25 wipes for  $6.99

I actually ran out of makeup wipes the day before I went shopping and I've been on the hunt for a new brand to try because I'm just not impressed with the ones I bought last time. So when I had a couple of girls mention that they really love the Simple ones I had to try them out. I opted to go with the standard kind to skin cleansing wipes to start with but there are a few different ones. If you guys reckon I should try one of the other types or have a particular brand of makeup wipes you love leave a comment for me to check them out. :) $4.20 instead of $7.

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in light/medium
200ml for $19.99

I actually picked up the Bondi Sands self tanning foam in  light/medium for a friend, I bought more than enough the last time it was on sale for myself. They were $12 instead of $20.

Last but not least I bought a 59ml spray bottle.
Yeah I know, a spray bottle. And what a random amount that is!
But I buy the big bottles of toner from Lush and mine leaks a little, which is fine when I'm at home but I needed a little bottle to go in my skincare bag for work. Plus it was only $3.39

All up I spent $57.96, saving $36.38.

Did you guys pick anything up from the sale? What did you buy if you did?

Australia Day Essentials.

Hey beauties,

So my friends and I have have an Australia Day tradition of going to a friends house, listening to the a triple J top 100, while sipping on drinks and chilling in the pool before either walking down to the foreshore or the end of the street to watch the fireworks.

And while this is an amazing tradition there are some important things to remember.

Sunscreen.
Seriously guys! Like all the time. It's going to be 37 in Perth so please remember to apply and reapply sunscreen and read the instructions for the sunscreen you choose to use. If it says wait half an hour before going into the water then wait the half an hour! Otherwise it'll just wash off and not protect you.

Water.
I know a lot of my followers are over 18 and can legally drink in Australia and probably will, but remember that with the heat and drinking it is very easy to get dehydrated. So drink water regularly please.

Lip balm.
If you opt not to wear makeup on Australia Day then that's cool, but please use a lip balm, preferably one with spf. And if you want a bit of colour then there are plenty of coloured ones to consider when you pack one.

Makeup.
Makeup is definitely not an essential but I thought I'd include it anyway.
If you're going into the pool then take that into consideration. My makeup with be very minimal because of that.
I'm basically going super simple with a tinted moisturiser or bb cream with spf, a nude waterproof eyeliner just to make me look a lot more awake, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade, a matte lip product because then I don't have to reapply and I love colour on my lips and possibly a clear mascara just to make my lashed look longer if I can be bothered.

Have a great day beauties and enjoy it, make sure to be safe!

Beauty Resolutions 2015

Hey Beauties

So today I have for you my 2015 beauty/blogger resolutions.

Beauty.

My main focus this year beauty wise is to focus on skin care. I feel that I need to get into a good skin care routine and stick to it. I spent way too much time in 2014 arguing with my skin, over it being dry or having breakouts when I shouldn't and I'm sick of it.

So skin care routine is my number one priority.

My other resolutions for beauty are to use up more products because I have way too many.
Yes, I admit it. I have too much makeup and body products and I should cull my collection a bit.

Blogging.

I have been terrible at sticking to some sort of a blogging schedule, but the second half of 2014 was filled with a lot of drama and stress that is all gone now.

So my resolutions for blogging 2015 are to post a blog at least once every two weeks. I know it doesn't seem like much but it doesn't mean that I can't do more posts in that time frame if I want to, it's just the minimum. :)
Also, I plan on  buying a camera to help take better blog photos because having to always wait for good lighting is annoying, especially when I have a job where half my shifts are night ones.

That's it for today beauties but keep an eye out for my top 14 of 2014 post that should be up in the next week. :)
